Reading is a fundamental skill in language learning for learners to produce: write and speak the target language. In order perform successfully academic professional settings, are required learn new knowledge by reading comprehending written texts extensively effectively. Nevertheless, poor literacy rate, performance struggling readers evidently some problems among second better comprehend learners’ difficulties this study explored perceptions on their usage of metacognitive strategies. 109 undergraduates Malaysian university responded survey quantitative study. The found that global strategies, problem solving strategies support were employed tasks relationships between strong indicating planning before reading, monitoring progress, issues relying or help during used tasks. Thus, suggests background pre-reading activities guidance critical be able complete well.
